New Music Monday - 'Staring Contest' by Mates of State

Darling indie pop duo Mates of State are back with a new EP,  an adorable new video, and a tour in support of their efforts. 'Staring Contest', the first single off You're Going to Make It, is every bit the picker-upper you were expecting from a couple so cute they could almost be Muppets.

They're playing at the top of an almost ludicrously loaded bill for Wednesday night's show at the Rock & Roll Hotel. Joining them are the catchy twin sister act Good Graeff, along with the Seattle-based chamber pop collective Hey Marseilles. You might remember them from the handclap-punctuated 'Rio' a few years ago.
